A Brief Introduction to an Introduction.

Introduction
So,
I have watched a lot of films. We're not talking a few more than average here, we are talking a lot of films. An obnoxious quantity of films. Some of them I really enjoyed and continue to enjoy today, others I enjoyed at the time and now only enjoy because of the memories and associations it has for me. Others I watched and simply hated. "Absolutely hated and wished I could sue for those hours and minutes of my life back, even if I spend them unable to go to the toilet with out help it would be better than having spent them watching that film" levels of hate.

So, having gone through all of that and being the person who constantly recommends films to friends and colleagues I thought I would share my opinions (and lets never forget that they are just my opinions) with you, the good people of the internet.

None of the films I will be "reviewing" will be new, or newish or even relatively new. Many of them are in fact now old. Bit of a novel idea but why not, some poor soul out there might be saved the experience of watching some fetid crap having read one of my reviews. Or equally they might be intrigued enough to go and watch something that I really like. Or then again they might think I haven't got a clue what I;m on about and ignore everything I've said. All these things are fine!

FYI
Just in case this does reach people around the world there are a few things you should probably know.

  1. I'm English. Not the snooty "Oooh, yes tea and crumpets!" sort, or the out and out Mockney gangster. I am in fact, a Northerner. Yes I have seen the actual real life version of THE WALL (G.O.T fans might get that) and yes it is often Grimme oop North (English people who've met other English people with stereotypes should get that). For the rest of you it will mean odd words which look like swear words that you've never heard (in which case they probably are) and a distinct tilt to the whimsical.
  2. I am also a stage trained actor. In all probability I wasn't that good or someone would be reviewing the crap I'd made. But it does mean I know more than is healthy about stage/screen presence and I can usually spot a shit performance.
  3. As a trained actor I will present my opinions in the form of declarative statements which can be mistaken for facts. Use your noodle and read between the lines.
  4. I am likely to offend someone at some point with something I say about something. Lively discussion is welcomed, trolling will be laughed at.
The Process:
In all likelyhood there will not be any strict order in which I do this. I have a feeling that I will most likely do Series of films (trillogies, quadrolligies etc) all in one go and otherwise do similarish films in sequence.

You will probably note that I might go through the works of one particular actor or director for a while before shifting to someone/thing else. that'll be because I'm working through my DVD collection and I've gotten to the next shelf/category/found a disk in the wrong box OR I happened to see the next one one the TV.

I will try to do stuff in genre or sub genre categories but no promises.

Other than that the main idea here is to expose you all to my high velocity ideas and opinions.

ENJOY!
